Desowen Lotion treats the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. It is in a class of medications called topical corticosteroids. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

Use Desowen Lotion only on the skin. Shake the bottle well before using it. Wash your hands. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of medication to the affected area and gently rub in, usually 2-3 times daily or as directed by your doctor. Do not bandage, wrap, or cover the area unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor. If used in the diaper area on an infant, do not use tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants.

After applying the medication, wash and dry your hands unless you are using this medication to treat the hands. Use this medication only for the condition prescribed. Inform your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse after two weeks.

Before taking Desowen Cream,

• You should not use desonide if you are allergic to it.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

• Diabetes; or
• A skin reaction to any steroid medicine.

It is not known whether Desowen Cream will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.

Do not use Desowen Lotion anywhere on the face unless your provider has specifically told you to do so. The skin on your face is more sensitive and likely to get unwanted side effects.

Desowen Lotion can cause acne, especially in the areas where you apply the medication. Using the smallest Desowen Lotion for the shortest possible time is best to minimize the ace effects.
