What is Betagan Eye Drops?

Betagan Eye Drops are used to treat glaucoma, a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision. They work by decreasing the pressure in the eye.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use Betagan Eye Drops as directed. To apply Betagan Eye Drops:

  • Wash your hands before using eye medication.
  • Tilt your head slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze a drop into this pocket. Close your eyes for 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Use only the number of drops your doctor has prescribed.
  • Please do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or place it directly on your eye.

Before Taking Betagan Eye Drops

Before using Betagan Eye Drops, tell your doctor and pharmacist:

  • If you are allergic to beta blockers, sulfites, or other drugs,
  • Prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially other eye medications and vitamins,
  • For medical conditions such as thyroid, heart, or lung disease; congestive heart failure; or diabetes,
  • Pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

If you are using another topical eye medication, instill it at least 10 minutes before or after you instill Betagan Eye Drops.
