Cleocin T Lotion is used to treat acne. It helps to decrease the number of acne lesions. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the Cleocin T Lotion exactly as directed. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin. Do not use on open wounds or sunburned, windburned, dry, or irritated skin.

• Shake Cleocin T lotion well before each use.
• Wash your hands before and after applying for this medicine.
• Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.

Before using Cleocin T Lotion, tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• If you are allergic to it or any other medications,
• You have or have ever had inflammatory bowel disease or severe diarrhea caused by an antibiotic. Be sure to mention erythromycin and other medications applied to the skin. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.
• If you have or have ever had asthma, eczema (sensitive skin that often becomes itchy or irritated) or allergies,
• If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
• If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using topical clindamycin.
• You should know that abrasive or medicated soaps and skin products that contain alcohol may make the side effects of Cleocin T Lotion worse. Talk to your doctor about the skin care products you plan to use during your treatment with Cleocin T Lotion.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Cleocin T Lotion may cause serious side effects. Stop using Cleocin T and call your doctor at once if you have:

• Severe redness, itching, or dryness of treated skin areas; or
• Severe stomach pain and diarrhea that is watery or bloody

Common side effects of Cleocin T  Lotion may include:

• Burning, itching, dryness, peeling or redness of treated skin; or
• Oily skin.
