What is Emadine Eye Drops?

Emadine Eye drops are used to prevent itching of the eyes caused by allergic conjunctivitis. It works by preventing the release of natural substances which cause allergic reactions in the eyes.

Follow Emadine Eye Drops in all directions on your prescription label. Use only the number of drops your doctor has prescribed. To apply the Emadine Eye Drops:

  • Wash your hands before using the eye drops.
  • Tilt your head slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye with the tip down. Look up and away from the dropper and squeeze out a drop.
  • Close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes with your head tipped down without blinking or squinting. Gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute to keep the liquid from draining into your tear duct. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

Emadine Eye Drops Cautions

Before using Emadine Eye Drops,

  • Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Emadine Eye Drops or other medications.
  • Tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Your doctor may need to adjust the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while using epinastine, call your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you wear contact lenses. You should also not instill Emadine Eye Drops while wearing contact lenses. Remove your contact lenses before you instill Emadine Eye Drops; wait to replace them for at least 10 minutes afterward. It is convenient to instill the eye drops before you put your lenses on in the morning and after you take them out in the evening.

Emadine Eye Drops Side Effects

Emadine Eye Drops may cause serious side effects, including:

  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing, and
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat

Get medical help immediately if you have any of the symptoms listed above.

The most common side effects of Emadine Eye Drops include:

  • headache,
  • mild burning or stinging after using the eye drops,
  • blurred vision,
  • dry eyes, and
  • strange dreams

Tell the doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or does not go away.
