Iopidine Eye Drops are used for short-term treatment for glaucoma and still have increased pressure in the eye. Iopidine Eye Drops lower the pressure in the eye by decreasing the amount of fluid produced within the eye.

Usually, Iopidine Eye Drops are used three times daily or as directed by your doctor.

To apply Iopidine Eye Drops, wash your hands first. 

• Tilt your head back, look up, and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
• Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Release the eyelid and gently close your eyes. Place one finger at the corner of your eye (near the nose) and apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes.
• If you are using the 0.5% eye drops, replace and tighten the cap on the dropper bottle.

Before using Iopidine Eye Drops, tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• If you are allergic to Iopidine, clonidine or any other medications,
• If you are taking or have recently stopped taking monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. Your doctor may tell you not to use apraclonidine eye drops if you are taking or if you have recently stopped taking one of these medications.
• You plan to take prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products.
• If you use other eye medications, instill them at least 5 minutes before or after administering apraclonidine eye drops.
• If you recently had a heart attack and have or have ever had depression; diabetes; high blood pressure; a stroke or ministroke; Raynaud's disease; thromboangiitis obliterans; fainting; or heart, liver, or kidney disease.
• If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant,
• If you are breastfeeding,
• You should know that Iopidine Eye Drops may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
• Ask your doctor about the safe use of alcoholic beverages while using Iopidine Eye Drops.
• Alcohol can make the side effects of Iopidine worse.
• You should know that Iopidine Eye Drops may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position. To avoid this problem, get out of bed slowly, resting your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing up.

Iopidine Eye Drops' more common side effects include:

• Allergic reaction (redness, itching, tearing of the eye).

Iopidine Eye Drops less common side effects include:

• Blurred vision or change in vision
• Chest pain
• Clumsiness or unsteadiness
• Depression
• Dizziness
• Eye discharge, irritation, or pain
• Irregular heartbeat.

How fast do Iopidine Eye Drops work?

Iopidine Eye Drops start to lower eye pressure within one hour and reach peak effect in about three hours.
