Synalar Gel topical is used to treat the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. Synalar Gel activates natural substances in the skin to reduce swelling, redness, and itching.

Use Synalar Gel exactly as directed on the label. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets.Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.

Wash your hands before and after using Synalar Gel unless you use this medicine to treat the skin on your hands.

Apply a thin layer of Synalar Gel to the affected skin and rub it in gently. Do not apply this medicine over a large skin area unless your doctor has told you to.

Do not cover the treated skin area with a bandage or other covering unless your doctor tells you to. Covering treated areas can increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin and may cause harmful effects.

Before using Synalar Gel, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: poor blood circulation, diabetes, and immune system problems. If you are allergic to it or other corticosteroids; or if you have any other allergies.

Do not use Synalar Gel if there is an infection or sore in the area to be treated.

The more common side effects of Synalar Gel may include:

• Body aches or pain
• congestion
• cough
• dryness or soreness of the throat
• fever
• headache
• hoarseness
• lightening of normal skin color
• lightening of treated areas of dark skin
• sore throat
• stuffy or runny nose
• tender, swollen glands in the neck
• trouble swallowing
• unusual tiredness or weakness
• voice changes

What should I know about the storage and disposal of Synalar Gel?

Keep Synalar Gel in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Do not freeze it.

What should I do if I forget a dose?

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

What are the side effects of Synalar Gel?

Stinging, burning, itching, irritation, dryness, or redness at the application site may occur when Synalar Gel is first applied to the skin.
